Course in sick leave follow-up – with a lawyer, a specialist in general medicine and HR specialists, April 7

BUHR is now organizing a unique and profitable course in sick leave follow-up. Here we will bring together both a lawyer and a specialist in general medicine – in addition to two of our own HR specialists who work with sick leave follow-up every day.

The course is interactive and has a strong focus on the real world. As a participant, you will leave with new insights and many good tools that you can use in connection with sick leave follow-up of your employees and colleagues.

The course is suitable for:

The course is suitable for HR employees and managers with personnel responsibilities, both in the public and private sectors.

About the course:

Course participants are given tools to be able to manage sick leave when it already occurs. There will be practical exercises during the course day, so that the tools are ready to use in their own workplace after the course day.

In addition, you will gain knowledge about why an employee is on sick leave, why it is necessary to work with sick leave and what stress does to the body. Former GP, Cecilie Tveteraas Hauge, will share her perspective on sick leave, and lawyer, Iselin Nybø, will explain what is required by law, when the employer has done enough in a sick leave follow-up and what is required for the employment relationship to be terminated.

Course participants also learn what steps are necessary to clarify the situation of the person on sick leave, so that the process does not drag on.

The course lasts 7 hours, and will be held at BUHR on Monday, April 7, 2025. Lunch and refreshments are included in the course fee.

Price: NOK 6,990 per person including lunch and catering.
Registration deadline: The course is cancelled.

(Course fee will be charged for cancellations within 48 hours before the start of the course, and the same applies for "no-shows".)

Did you know that Norway has the world's highest rate of sick leave?

This increase continues, and now the sick leave is the highest in 15 years. Figures from Statistics Norway for the 3rd quarter of 2024 show that the absence ended at 7.2 percent during this period. In total, almost 8 million man-days were lost to medically certified sick leave in the 3rd quarter of 2024.

Sickness absence entails a large cost for society and employers, while it can also contribute to increased strain on employees who are at work. The consequences of this can be increased stress, reduced productivity and a poorer working environment. It is important to understand what affects sick leave in your company, in order to know what measures should be taken to deal with this effectively and efficiently.
