Offers Graduates program

BUHR has started a Graduates program for new graduates in the HR field. Vera Vika Leiton and Bendik Dale Fiskerstrand are the first cohort to graduate, and are very happy with their permanent employment and an educational first year at BUHR.

BUHR is growing rapidly and constantly needs new professionals to join the team. That's why they have developed a program where each year they give a couple of new graduates from the HR program permanent employment and access to the Graduates program. During their first year as employees, they go through different areas of HR, and get a deep dive into various relevant topics. Each topic starts with a review of theory and legislation, and during the week they get to try out real case assignments that are subsequently evaluated.

– We want to focus on young people and give them relevant experience. Our program is designed to give them a smooth start to working life. They become more equipped while gaining greater confidence and understanding of the profession, before they go out to meet customers on their own. It is also positive for us internally, because their commitment rubs off on the rest of us, says Birte Tjørn Wahlberg from BUHR.

Has grown both professionally and personally

Vera Vika Leiton has had an incredible development in just one year. Through the program, she has taken both personality tests and aptitude tests, in addition to receiving good professional follow-up and practice in developing customer relationships. She was well received from day one, and found it easy to ask colleagues for advice and guidance. Now she is looking forward to seeing Solveig Klakegg Egeland and Martin Anholt go through the same program.

– I have developed myself both personally and professionally throughout this year, and I look forward to learning and developing further. We work in a team, and it has been exciting to join customer visits and see how the others work. It has also been nice to gain insight into different work areas and see what I like to work with. For me, following up on sick leave has been a particularly exciting topic, she says.

Safe with a whole team behind you

Bendik finds the Graduates program to have been a smooth and good transition from being a student to becoming an employee. He has been well looked after, and finds that there has been room to ask questions, make mistakes and explore the HR profession. Permanent employment from day one made him feel a sense of belonging, while at the same time giving him the peace and security to concentrate fully on the program.

– We have been able to try out most of what is within the various areas of expertise. Which makes it easier to find your way in the profession. I think pay and conditions have been particularly interesting. It is a big topic that can be complex at times, and which concerns all employees. It has been a steep learning curve the whole time, and I see no signs that it will level out anytime soon, he says.

The program is industry-independent

BUHR can also help other industries develop similar programs. The same principles can be easily transferred and adapted with relevant theory and legislation in other fields.

– We have also had great success with something we call Assessment Centers. It is a special form of recruitment where we invite a group of potential candidates to review relevant tasks for the job they will be performing. The program is tailored to find the right candidate, and can be adapted to all of our clients, says Wahlberg.
