A flexible HR solution for Huddly

Huddly is an industry leader in intelligent camera systems designed to enable productive and inclusive digital collaboration. The company brings together expertise in design, hardware, software and artificial intelligence across disciplines, offering solutions and tools for teamwork with a focus on the user experience.

Huddly was founded in 2013 and is headquartered in Oslo, Norway, with a presence in the US, Europe and Asia. They distribute their products globally, and are an international technology company with over 120 employees from Norway, Germany, France, UK, US and Australia.

From start-up to well-established global player

As a mid-sized organization, Huddly found themselves in a challenging situation regarding their HR function. From being somewhere between a start-up and a scale-up, they needed a flexible solution.

Ingrid Somdal-Åmodt Vinje, VP People & Culture, tells;

– In a growth phase like ours, it is difficult to predict HR needs. It is risky to maintain a permanent HR department when working with constant development.

Solution through BUHR

Huddly therefore solved this through the subscription solution of BUHR, which offers flexible HR services with access to relevant HR expertise.

– With BUHR, Huddly was able to scale up the workload when necessary. We started with 40%, and have adjusted up to 60% during periods when needed, and now we have two skilled resources from BUHR on the team. The access to such resources covers several areas within HR and has led to more efficient processes, to all operational work such as requests for leave, development of personnel handbooks and administrative assistance for annual salary adjustments, but also to larger strategic tasks such as recruitment and work with culture.

– We have also increased the response rate and efficiency of HR inquiries from employees, and generally achieved better follow-up of employees with the help of BUHR, she says.

Mette Brekke, Senior HR Business Partner at BUHR.

Mette Brekke, Senior HR Business partner at BUHR, explains in more detail about the collaboration with Huddly;

– In a subscription agreement As an HR provider, we get the opportunity to get to know the company's needs and culture. The HR work at Huddly is very broad and includes everything from administrative tasks to consulting, guidance, training, preparation of policies and development of HR solutions that support the company's strategy.

Collaboration that creates results

Ingrid's experience of the collaboration has been overwhelmingly positive.

“Their willingness to understand our culture and goals is a great advantage. We have regular collaboration meetings, where we discuss our needs and how we can best adapt our HR structure,” explains Ingrid.

With a small HR department in-house, Huddly has benefited from outsourcing the work to BUHR, which has freed up time to work on strategic HR for Ingrid.

– Having BUHR as a sparring partner has helped us think long-term. We also minimize the vulnerability in the HR function, Ingrid adds.

Future prospects and security

The collaboration with BUHR has made it possible to have an operational HR department for Huddly even during the holiday period.

“We can now follow up on cases early and know that the HR function is taken care of. It gives us peace of mind in our everyday lives,” she continues.

Ingrid has gained high trust in BUHR's resources, especially considering that they are physically present in their offices. This approach facilitates the flow of information within the HR team, as well as streamlines processes for employees.

– As a partner, BUHR is competent and reliable, and they have quickly become familiar with our needs and organizational culture. They have also proven to be very flexible when our needs change along the way.

A strategic partnership

Huddly is a prime example of how a strategic partnership with BUHR can transform HR management, driving growth and results in a competitive technology world.

– We highly recommend BUHR! If you have a small HR department, the subscription scheme is a fantastic solution, concludes Ingrid.
