The key to a good HR function at Northern Lights
KFUK-KFUM is a Christian and open-minded children's and youth organization that fights for young people's right to live and develop as whole people. We are part of the YWCA (Young Women's Christian Association), which is the world's largest women's movement, and the YMCA (Young Mens Christian Association), which is the world's largest youth movement.
With a presence in thousands of communities in 120 countries, we create open and safe communities for more than 70 million children, young people and women. By working in the local community and based on the reality of children and young people, we change the world.
In Norway, we have a clear ambition to be a leading player in the field of children and youth and create community for around 40,000 children and young people annually in a variety of different activities – from sports, events, festivals, open kindergartens, Forandringshus, children's choirs, confirmation camps, folk high schools, leadership development and much more. We create open, safe communities where children and young people can be themselves, have experiences for life and develop as whole people. In Norway, we have around 350 dedicated employees who work every day to ensure that children and young people can take part in open and safe communities.
BUHR's delivery
BUHR assists the HR department in YWCA-KFUM Norway in various individual cases and development projects. The main project is a working time project with collaboration and negotiations with shop stewards, as well as the preparation and implementation of new procedures and tools throughout the organization.
When our HR manager was going on parental leave, we made an assessment, and our need was not a temporary employee who could step in as an HR generalist, but an HR advisor who could get to know our organization well, but who at the same time had a team behind him with various special skills. This we have achieved through our collaboration with BUHR.
Our organization went from having a personnel department to becoming an HR department in January 2023 and with this there were, and still are, a number of large processes and projects in the department's portfolio. Here, our main advisor in BUHR has, among other things, taken full responsibility for the delivery of a working time project, and delivered with high professional quality and handled all challenges that have arisen along the way. For us as an organization, it has also been a great security that we have quickly had resources made available when there has been a need for it and this has helped to ensure continuity and sufficient capacity for us. We have at times had various needs that BUHR has filled in a very professional manner.
We experience extremely high quality in all deliveries from all advisors we have collaborated with in BUHR and can warmly recommend such collaboration for other organizations.
